Prophecy from David Wilkerson (author of the Cross and the Switchblade, pastor of Times Square Church, New York)

I am compelled by the Holy Spirit to send out an urgent message to all on our mailing list, and to friends and to bishops we have met all over the world.

AN EARTH-SHATTERING CALAMITY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN.

IT IS GOING TO BE SO FRIGHTENING, WE ARE ALL GOING TO TREMBLE—EVEN THE GODLIEST AMONG US.

For ten years I have been warning about a thousand fires coming to New York City. It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires—such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago.

There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting—including Times Square, New York City. What we are experiencing now is not a recession, not even a depression. We are under God’s wrath. In Psalm 11 it is written,

“If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (v. 3).

God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations. He is destroying the secular foundations.

The prophet Jeremiah pleaded with wicked Israel, “God is fashioning a calamity against you and devising a plan against you. Oh, turn back each of you from your evil way, and reform your ways and deeds. But they will say, It’s hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart” (Jeremiah 18:11-12).

In Psalm 11:6, David warns, “Upon the wicked he will rain snares (coals of fire)…fire…burning wind…will be the portion of their cup.” Why? David answered, “Because the Lord is righteous” (v. 7). This is a righteous judgment—just as in the judgments of Sodom and in Noah’s generation.

WHAT SHALL THE RIGHTEOUS DO? WHAT ABOUT GOD’S PEOPLE?

First, I give you a practical word I received for my own direction. Lay in store a thirty-day supply of food, toiletries and other essentials. In major cities, grocery stores are emptied in an hour at the sign of an impending disaster.

As for our spiritual reaction, we have but two options. This is outlined in Psalm 11. We “flee like a bird to a mountain.” Or, as David says, “He fixed his eyes on the Lord on his throne in heaven—his eyes beholding, his eyelids testing the sons of men” (v. 4). “In the Lord I take refuge” (v. 1).

I will say to my soul: No need to run…no need to hide. This is God’s righteous work. I will behold our Lord on his throne, with his eye of tender, loving kindness watching over every step I take—trusting that he will deliver his people even through floods, fires, calamities, tests, trials of all kinds.

Note: I do not know when these things will come to pass, but I know it is not far off. I have unburdened my soul to you. Do with the message as you choose.

God bless and keep you.

In Christ,

DAVID WILKERSON

'Major cities all across

'Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires—such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago.' - I'm quite sure you believed the end was also nigh then David, but I take it nothing apocalyptic transpired seeing as we're all still here. Maybe next time. And failing that, maybe another time, or another, or another...

WARNING TO THE CHURCH IN ENGLAND - PREPARE

This was read out by our Pastor in our Baptist church in England several months ago, after it was received by a lady in my church:

PREPARE!

"You, my Church are the custodians of this land. I have given you the keys to unlock this nation from its bondage. This is a great responsibility as well as a great joy. NOW is the time to prepare. NOW is the time, like Noah, to listen to my voice, even though England is unaware of the great trauma that is ahead. NOW is the time to plan. How is My Church going to save the widows and orphans, the elderly and infirm? How will you put to work the hands of the unemployed and feed the refugee?

I am poised to glorify Myself through My Church in this land. I am ready to do great wonders and miracles through My People. The high of this nation are going to be brought low. My Church will become the rock on to which people cling in the storm. I will be among you; My Presence will be strong. Those who consider themselves the lowest of the low, like Gideon, will achieve great things through Me.

You MUST prepare, do not be caught unaware. The judgement I am sending upon this country will be lessened because of you. Through you, I am answering the prayers of those who have gone before. Do not lie idle or you will not see my power. Fast and pray, seek My face. Prepare and plan. What are you going to do for the broken hearted, the children, the fatherless? How are you going to feed the hungry and clothe those who are naked? When all is crumbling away, the people of this land will see My Church is still solid, and still faithful to Me. My Name will be glorified, My Holy Spirit will be let loose to work in the hearts of millions.

But time is slipping away, My Church. You must understand this is no word to cheer you up. Now is the time for urgent action, there is not long before the storm will hit and I do not want My People to be found wanting. Start looking outwards from your base. I will reveal the needs of your communities and you will meet those needs in My Strength. I will not abandon you in this time of trial. I will not leave you without resources. The time is coming when there will the nothing to rely upon but Me. George Muller understood this. Did I leave My Children to wander in the desert for 40 years without feeding them? You are My Children; keep your eyes fixed upon Me. The challenges I am sending you are hard, but I will give you strength and you will shine out in the darkness that is to fall, as beacons of hope. Those who are lost will come to you.

You must work alongside those of my people who worship in different buildings. Pool your resources, share your skills and knowledge. Do not let historic differences come between you, for this will hinder you in meeting the needs of the suffering. For I am the God of the poor and the lowly, and you will need to be united to meet their needs.

Leaders, I have bestowed upon you skills and knowledge; I will send you my people to carry out my will and the finances to do so. The work is not just yours; many hands are needed to carry out the work you all have to do. I will provide. I will not see My Children put to shame when they are eager to do My Will. You will see how I will provide and be amazed!

Now is the time to get ready, like a soldier going into battle, an army going to war. Have everything to hand so that when the enemy strikes you are not crushed. I am and will be all that you need. Seek after my wisdom, bring to Me your requests and I will answer them beyond your wildest imaginings."

Fortune telling?

Wow! what a crock, pardon my french. And I've got a bridge for sale. Who buys into this crap? seriously? What the heck is wrong with people? If God gave you a brain and your not using it you might have to answer for burying you talent, (if you know the reference you might take notice). Ever though God may not be as religious as the morons spouting this nonsense?

FAKE MESSAGES

Not a very convincing 'Prophecy' - to my mind a blatant piece of fakery. Who are we supposed to believe is the 'I' in the message. Are we supposed to believe that these are the words of God? What silly nonsense. How gullible people must be, to take this kind of 'message' seriously.

Warning to the church - Prepare

responding to Item submitted by Brian Johnson, (newchristian.org.uk) Fri.20/3. England. I personally do not like this sort of thing. The Scriptures should be sufficient for every disciple. - God's true church is within His people, and there should have been no use of the word 'buildings'
'When words are many, sin is not absent' (Proverbs 10.19. )(Enid)

Message from David Wilkerson

Keep our eyes upon Jesus. May God yet find a faithful people in this, my beloved country.

written in good faith by david ellingsen (davio860@hotmail.com)

Hi David

Simplistic ? God is not interested in people finding Him through their intellect alone . If that were the case , faith would be for a small elite excluding everyone else . It is normal to believe in God , small children find it easy to believe unless they're taught not to . There is no connection to faith in the one who said love your enemies to causing war , in the Garden of Gethsemane the Lord told his disciples NOT to fight for him . If we do things in the name of Jesus that are against his words that is hypocrisy .

Another thing is that , yes God is love , but he is also , Lord , Creator , Holy , Almighty and the Judge of all the world . Jesus said we must be born again to enter the kingdom of heaven , and that message is for you , me and everyone .

to the writer of Hi David 24/03

Absolutely true, but heartfelt repentance comes first, and that only comes about by sincerely recognising our own failings and understanding that we are fallen creatures in a fallen world. By the Grace of God alone the heart is then wonderfully regenerated and attitude totally changed. God is not mocked, He sees the heart. When the mind is concentrated on looking at everybody's else's foibles and failings, and happily and of course finding them (none of us is perfect) it is closed to self examination and closed to the salvation that Our Lord longs to bring to all, the very purpose of his birth, life and death. As you so rightly say, being born again is an imperative, and that is only the beginning of our growth in our walk as Travellers on The Way. Unfortunately we all call ourselves 'Christians' when we haven't got there yet, and our witness, or lack of it, doesn't help unbelievers who see much in us to criticise when we are merely a 'work in progress'. God Bless.
Enid

Unbeliever

Dear davio860, the truth is, the mere fact that you state that you accept all the 'weird facets of mankinds beliefs' is a contradition in terms. Your mind is already closed - God loves you just the same, although you do not return the compliment. Enid.

God is love

I must submit this message I just received from Our Lord,

"Stop worrying people with your ridiculous scare stories. I am the God of Love and will never destroy my beloved creations. Ancient stories of me destroying the sinful of the world are all wrong – human stories to explain human responses. I love everything and everyone will come to me after death. All the living and un-living things of the earth are special in my eyes: I created them all and love them all. I am love. Those who do wrong do so because of things outside of their control (not mine I hasten to add ;-) - too many to list. Why should I punish what I have created when I know exactly what they do and why? Why should I punish them for the free will I have given them? You all have to live together and I know it is hard. Destruction never comes from me as I am love. Sleep easy – the end of the universe is not coming. Even if you destroy your home and environment you will still come to me. You people on earth are not the be-all and end-all – there are uncountable others in this vast universe which you do not seem to comprehend. You are special but so are ALL my creations. Those who spread stories of a coming apocalypse are sad people, desperately wanting to have some effect on other people. They want to control people, which is human nature that I have given, but I still love them as well. I love you all. As my son said when he popped down – Don’t Worry! (although it did get a bit corrupted by those who wanted to control – will you lot ever learn – ho, hum).
Lots of love, God.”

God is Love. submission by guest Monday 30th. 12.04

To the anonymous writer - Shame upon you - and giving no name to yourself.
Enid

God is Love, Shame on me?

Shame on me! Why? Shame on you mad christians who always hope for armaggedon. What makes you all think that you know your imaginary friends’ will? Surely a god can speak for himself. He spoke to the chosen people often enough thousands of years ago but not much from him recently! I haven’t seen any additions to the books of the bible in the last 1900 years! These scare stories of a coming end to the world, of global catastrophes, fire and brimstone are totally ridiculous. They have been propounded by nutters for the last two thousand years and nothing has happened. As a bible basher you will know that jesus’ contemporaries thought judgement day would come before they died; it didn’t. Every millennium some idiot has foretold the end of the world; it hasn’t. Every war is the last battle between good and evil; they aren’t. These messages don’t come from a god, they come from sad, brainwashed minds who have little lives in this world and are praying that their pathetic souls will receive some succour in the fairy tale land to come. Don’t hold your breath!

Also, I was responding to the dimwit who posted the stupendously insane “AN URGENT MESSAGE TO THE CHURCH” post. Do you agree with that drivel? Not a message from a loving god in my book. I thought your god was the “God of Love” – not some vindictive swine who has condoned slavery, genocide, racism, misogyny and every other horrible atrocity upon his beloved creation (I can provide hundreds of rabid biblical quotations if you so wish).

I am Stephen Brown (address and inside leg measurements withheld as religious people get completely carried away). Who are you Enid? God’s angel of retribution on this earth? I don’t think so.

Looking forward to a slightly better response than your last “Shame on you…”

Shame on me ?

My goodness ! What a tirade ! No indeed, I am no angel, of retribution or angel of any kind, but a very human 81 yr old Traveller on The Way whose life has not exactly been a bowl of roses - but who is so very grateful for the life and teaching of Jesus Christ, and to have been born again, an absolute requisite before any of us can even see, let alone enter, the kingdom of heaven. Whilst I could understand your wrath at the message you were responding to, to have responded to it in such a hateful and to my mind blasphemous way , was inexcusable. It just goes to show how much misunderstanding of the Christian faith has arisen over generations and I praise the efforts of Steve Maltz and his team and those Ministers who are truly enlightened and trying to do a good job in a pretty bad world. Sincerely, Enid Laird

Shame on me!

Thank you Enid for your reasoned response. Thank you also for judging me in my previous posts – most Christian of you. I, of course, am no Christian and have no qualms with judging those who attempt to terrify. I have known people who have been scared witless by warnings of impending doom from what I would class as deranged attention seekers – hence my lively response. I take it that you also deem David Wilkerson’s original post blasphemous as he attempts to speak for your god? (Though I haven’t seen such a response as yet)

Why did I find this site? Why did I read the hate post of David Wilkerson? Why did I write what I wrote? Perhaps I was inspired by your god! How do you know otherwise? As far as I remember the general gist of my post was “Do not worry. God loves everyone and everything. God created everything. God is love. Don’t listen to false prophets”. What’s wrong with any of that? Did I say anything that is contrary to your ancient myths?

I believe that the main driving force behind religion is ignorance: ignorance of the real world and real science; basic ignorance of reality. Before you go on about how I must feel superior I quickly acknowledge that I do not have any answers (perhaps there simply isn’t a question) and have made some tremendous blunders in my naïve journey through life. Of course we humans have trouble coping with the fact that this life is all we get; When we die we are no more (gosh, that does sound scary!) We are simply bunches of mutually parasitic, organic molecules striving to survive and pass on our DNA. If believing in some sky fairy helps us cope with death, disease, pain and suffering then perhaps it has its place; but it is more than a Santa Claus, to be left behind as we grow up and face the real world.

This is fun!
Stephen.

Shame on me

Dear Stephen, I make no comment on David Wilkerson's post. I chose to ignore it, one of those free choices we can all exercise. There are other sites with plenty of comment on it. As to what was wrong with what you wrote, you wrote it as a word from the Lord What our Lord actually said was ' I tell you the truth, no-one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again'. (John 3.3.) and in the same paragraph when asked for further explanation 'I tell you the truth, no-one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, You must be born again.'
I am sure you were prompted to write , and indeed to follow it up, am glad you did so for whilst we disagree, you were being honest, just as I am. But please don't presume to put words in my mouth - ('before you go on about .....') - what I speak of is life - not death - and it is life lived on this earth about which I have some personal experience. I am not interested in pulling things apart to disect them and see how they work. Scientists have said the world began with sound, the Bible says 'in the beginning was the Word'. Some meeting of minds there I think. Science has done some wonderful things in the area of medicine in particular, but it has to be very careful about overstepping boundaries which it is now doing in the matter of creation. Within my 'myths and legends' as you call them, we come up to the church calendar date for Easter, allow me my view please. As the man Christ hung on the Cross, he didn't whinge, saying 'it's not fair', or I need a Solicitor,. Life isn't fair in a material sense, but when we turn to Christ our background is immaterial, we have a new and joyous beginning at which point all are equal in value, regardless of circumstances and our days are a whole lot better and the rest of our life begins. Our duties and responsibilities may not change, we may still be poor (financially) but our values change. - Christ didn't whine because the religious of the day and the ignorant chose to set a thief free over himself. The thief they could understand, Christ they did not understand, were afraid of Him, and so wanted to be rid of him. The world hasn't changed, but neither has Almighty God. Christ said nothing when the soldiers who had driven in the nails because they 'were only carrying out orders,' went further in their task and offered him vinegar as he hung there dying in thirst. His love and compassion for us, you and me, did not falter in his agony, but he prayed 'Father forgive, for they know not what they do'. You speak of fairies and Santa Clause. Believe me Stephen, we have to grow up in this world before we can become a child of God and it can be a very, very painful process. Nothing worthwhile ever comes easy. In spite of what you write, I say God Bless you.
Enid

the joys of pointlessness

Hi Stephen ,

So what if Enid has judged you after all you don't believe there is anyone to give account to , so it does n't matter - right . It does n't matter if someone commits murder either , after all that person was going to die anyway , and after all we're just animals really , hey perhaps the murderer was more fit anyway . Rape ...well that's the strong passing on their genes ....

I'm sure you don't think like that . Talking of science , have you noticed that we're a bit...well different to the other animals . We talk , we laugh , we cry , we read , write ... some have even travelled into outer space . You don't see many elephants do that . Actually we're not 'simply' anything , there is nothing simple about a human being .

With regard to the expectation of the 2 nd coming happening in the first century . Well , bear in mind that Jesus said that Jerusalem would be destroyed and that the people would be taken captive throughout the nations until the 'Times of the Gentiles' are fulfilled . Do you think that within a generation all those things would happen ? Jesus' crucifixion took place approx 30 A.D , the destuction of Jerusalem also spoken of in Daniel ch.9 took place in A.D 70 .

Shame on me and the joys of pointlessness

My point about the original post was that a lot of people will not ignore it. And hang on, he "wrote it as a word from the Lord". Why didn't you have a go at him? Yet you chose to ignore it. Of course, he gave you hope for your pointless worship of a non-existent god.

Which scientists say "the world began with sound"? Never heard that one. Of course the big bang was a pretty big bang but it did create the universe as we know it. I should imagine that any sound was a by-product. The microwave background radiation is a left-over “noise” from this creation but not of “the world”. No-one knows how the universe exactly began. Scientists are working on the physics that will explain it. Just attributing it to a magic super-being does not help.

And on we go…

“As the man Christ hung on the Cross, he didn't whinge, saying 'it's not fair', or I need a Solicitor” – no indeed. You believe he was god. So he knew what the out-come was. To a god, suffering means nothing as you are all. So what was the point? Also, crucifixion wasn’t a special death for the saviour – people were being nailed up all the time. Did he suffer more? The two men at his sides did the real suffering. Do you believe he died for the sins of man originating with adam? So god creates man, gives him free will and then blames him for choosing the wrong thing. Where is the sense in that? Unless you are not a very nice god! Of course, to primitive peoples, god is very handy; explaining all manner of things you have no idea about and, of course, for good old control.

While we are at this: The god of the old testament must have been a different god than the current version. You can find the occasional nice thing in the depths of the old testament but the vast majority depicts a vengeful, racist, sadistic, misogynistic god. When moses came down from the mountain with his god given rules he found his people idolizing. What did he do? He says to the toady levites, “Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.” Hmm, “Thou shalt not kill” springs to mind. So much for the old god. The new testament god is slightly better but still dooms his creation to hell if they don’t believe a load of nonsense. What do you think?

Your bible tells you not to judge! I couldn’t care less, but if you go around judging you are not a very good christian. (It is also says that women shouldn’t preach (1 Tim 2:11-12) but of course we ignore the ones we don’t like.) And what is that rubbish about us not being like animals – Which planet are you living on? Were you day-dreaming during biology? We are animals (mammals) – just look at the internal mechanisms of us and an elephant (or a mouse) and we have the same everything – albeit in slightly different proportions. Animals talk, laugh and cry; not all humans read and write. Genetic science also shows in-numerable links to all manner of ancient animals and plants.

Oh, and jesus may have said stuff but all we have is what people wrote he said. The earliest dating I’ve seen of new testament writings is the first half of the 2nd century – well post jerusalem temple destruction – so it must have been in retrospect. Anything to keep the faithful happy.

Murder and rape are bad. They are inherently bad. We don’t need a god to tell us that these things are bad (well once again, I don’t). I wouldn’t want to be murdered or raped and I wouldn’t expect other people to want me to do it to them. What is your point? Do you need a god to stop you from doing these things? Do the voices in your head keep on nagging?

If you feel the need to require a faith in the supernatural to deal with life then I can only suggest a better course of action may be a psychiatrist.

Perhaps we can carry on this discussion in the after-life - you never know I may recant on my death bed – but I doubt it.

Stephen Brown
